Earl Bales Park (North York) is located in South of Sheppard Ave West and East of Bathurst St.
It is easy accessible by TTC and plenty of parking spaces. It is a convenient leisure hiking and skiing destination in North York. (We may catch some fall colors if lucky)

Most of trails are with wide paved road through forests, rivers and lakes along the trail. The trail we take this time is all paved with asphalt and is well maintained and easy to ‘hike’ leisurely. The trail is < 5 km. round trip and is expected to be done by 1.5 – 2.0 hrs.

We start hiking from the parking lot for about 0.5 km, a gentle downslope of 700 meters then follow until it reaches the flat surface again. We then take it easy to stroll along the path with river & lakes on both sides. The final stretch of the first leg is again, a gentle uphill for 0.5 km and reaches the ’top’, a residential area with dead end road. We then turn around and repeat the same pattern before back to the parking lot. There is washroom facility in Earl Bales Community Centre.
What to wear: Hiking boots/running shoes, hat, bug jacket suit or hood, long pant, rain gears (if necessary).
What to bring: Sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, drinking water, energy bar & snacks.

Start Time: 2:30 p.m. (Promptly at 2:30 p.m., with no waiting for late arrivals.) 

Hiking meeting time/place: 2:15 p.m. Sunday October 4, 2026 at Parking Lot next to Earl Bales Community Centre (4169 Bathurst St., North York, ON M3H 3P7)

Hiking Fee: $5 for non-members hiker to cover insurance (to be collected onsite) / Free for HKUAAO members

Duration of hike: 1.5 – 2.0 hours
