HKUAAO hosted our 2026 AGM and Dinner on 2026 April 19 th Sunday at Lobster
Port Seafood Cuisine. The 2026-27 New Board of Directors was successfully
elected before dinner commenced. The dinner was well attended by over 100
Alumni and friends.
The dinner opened with an official welcome speech by the president Ms Margaret
Law, who then transfers the position to the newly elected successor president,
Mr. Franki Cheng. The new board of directors then appeared on stage and greet
the audience. The newly elected president Franki immediately delivered his
inaugural greetings, pledging for support from the alumni in the future activities.
The evening was graced by the presence of our VIP keynote speaker Dr. Joseph
Wong, who was the Founder and President of Yee Hong Foundation. He was also
the Vice- President of the Anti- W5 Movement in the 70s and 80s last century
here in Canada and he shared with the audience his valuable experience,
leadership and participation in the Anti W5 Movement.
Also present was the New Director, Mr. Bill Wong, who represents HKETO, that
has been our long-time sponsor of HKUAAO. His warm greetings evoked nostalgia
for our hometown, Hong Kong.
From the 100+ guests, about 30+ were younger and newer alumni of HKU, who
just arrived at Toronto within the past 5-6 years. We have engaged them in
helping as MCs, singing performers, stage assistants, photographer and
receptionists. The dinner reception was enjoyed by all at a warm, friendly and
relaxed ambience. All our directors have donated gifts for lucky draw, wine and
cash money for expenses, and above all, we had very good audio and sound
support from a professional production company. There were 3 singers, 2 of
whom were HKU alumni members, who have generously shared with us their
stage talents. The third one is an experienced guest singer from City U Alumni
Association. Our dinner guests have all enjoyed their performance on the dinner
night.
Also attended were JU representatives from the other universities from Hong
Kong, namely: Chinese University, Baptist University, Polytechnic University, City
