September 6, 2025 HKUAAO Alumni Networking Day
On September 6, 2025, HKUAAO successfully hosted the Alumni Networking Event for the very first time at the Richard Charles Lee Canada–Hong Kong Library. More than 60 alumni from diverse sectors—including finance, banking, business administration, education, law and legal services, healthcare, arts and more came together to enjoy a day of reunion with old friends and networking with the new ones.
A highlight of the afternoon was the exclusive library tour led by Dr. Maria Lau, Director of the Richard Charles Lee Canada–Hong Kong Library. Alumni enjoyed the rare opportunity to explore the library’s unique collections and archives of Hong Kong literature and historical journals.
Through small-group networking sessions and interactive games, participants deepened their connections not only with each other but also with their alma mater, the University of Hong Kong, while exploring the unique historical ties between Hong Kong and Canada.
Looking ahead, HKUAAO is committed to organizing more networking events to continue fostering meaningful connections among our members.

Recap of May 19, 2025 HKUAAO Victoria Day Hike at Bob Hunter Memorial Park, Scarborough and Dinner
After days of rainy weather, Victoria Day turned out to be a day great for hiking – clear sky, warm and picture perfect. We had a turn out of 31 people, both old and new. The Tai Chi group under Mr. Tom Wong had about 14 (this event had been co-organized with the Tai Chi group for man years). So a big group!
We started out after 2 pm, after taking a group photo with our trademark- the bright green HKUAAO flag. The trail goes in a loop, very scenic and fairly easy to walk. We all enjoyed the fresh air, the nice weather, and the nice scenery along the way. We also had good interactions and exchanges amongst the group, and opportunities to take many pictures.
There were a couple of minor incidents. Several participants who waited for a few later arrivals were not able to follow the big group ahead and took the wrong turn into a different trail. Fortunately they were able to meet up again after the first loop and remained together for the balance of the hike.
The parking lot was very busy on the day and quite a few paricipants had difficulty finding a parking spot. One couple had actually had to turn away after searching for a spot for a long time but in vain.
Fortunately, these minor incidents did not dampen our spirits and we all enjoyed and completed the 7 km hike by about 4:30 pm.
After the hiking, most of us continued to the dinner at Sam Woo BBQ Restaurant in Scarborough. We had 4 tables from HKUAAO and 2 from the Tai Chi group for a total of 6 tables. The food did not disappoint. The delicious meal included BBQ duck, steamed chicken, vegetable dishes, and nice desserts. The dishes were sizable and we ended up had a lot food to take home. For a change, we may try to find another suitable restaurant for the next hiking event since we had been going to Sam Woo for many years in the past and the venue is a bit crowded if we have a bigger group in future.
