We had a leisure hike on the Glen Rouge Trail on Sept 20, 2009.The hike took about 3 hours and we had dinner at Tung Tak Seafood Restaurant afterwards.

May 18, 2009 Forks of the Credit Provincial Park

On May 18 2009 we organized a leisure hike in Forks of the Credit Provincial Park about 24 km NW of Brampton. The weather was beautiful and there were about 20 of us including alumni and friends joining the walk.
Forks of the Credit is on the famous Bruce Trail. The park features the excitement of the Credit River, as it narrows and rushes through a deep gorge, plunging over a falls. The 12 km hike started at 2.30 p.m. and it took about 3 hours to complete the loop. The hiking trail was in good condition and was easy to walk. To continue the fun, many participants went to dinner together at the Best Dragon Seafood Crusine in Thornhill.

May 3, 2009 Annual General Meeting & Dinner

We had a great time together at the Annual Dinner held on Sunday (May 3rd, 2009) at Dragon Dynasty Chinese Cuisine in Scarborough.
Tea connoisseurs, Connie Fong and Rita So, were invited to the dinner to do a tea presentation. This presentation was enjoyed by us all. They explained in great details different types of tea, the usage of various utensils and how tea is supposed to be enjoyed. We even got a chance to have a sip of tea and to practice how to enjoy tea by using your nose and taste buds. With practical experience of delivering over 1000 presentations at places like ROM and Chinese Lantern Festival, Connie and Rita had truly made the evening most engaging and enjoyable.
A new board of directors have also been elected for the year 2009-2010 at the Annual General Meeting immediately preceding the Annual Dinner.

Mar 13, 2009 Dinner with HKU Pro-Vice-chancellor Professor S.P. Chow
It is our honour to host a dinner for HKU Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor S.P. Chow along with Ms. Bernadette Tsui, Director of HKU Development and Alumni Affairs Office and Ms. Monica Wong, Assistant Director at Ambassador Chinese Cuisine in Richmond Hill on Friday (March 13th, 2009).

March 2009 Ontario Inter-Collegiate Chinese Debate Competition

| The Hong Kong University Alumni Association of Ontario has been a sponsor of the debate competition for 15 years.
The 18th annual Ontario Chinese Debate Competition was hosted by Ontario Inter-Collegiate Chinese Debate Alliance. Every year, the executive board is formed with students from various universities in Ontario. Participating schools include University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier University, York University, Ryerson University, McMaster University and University of Western Ontario. This year, 200 debaters, a total of 26 teams from 7 universities joined the competition. On March 1, 2009 the final was held at First Markham Place. Two of our members, Charles Law and Augustine Chan were there serving as adjudicators. This year’s Champion team was from U of Toronto. First runner up went to York University, and Ryerson University, second runner up. The best speaker of the year was Chris Siu from Ryerson University, |
