“Intangible connections are often the strongest bonds. Designers should be exceptional collaborators and coordinators, driven by research and empathy. This role has allowed me to connect with people from diverse fields who inspire me, while I offer them fresh perspectives in return.”

Frankie Chi Chau Hang 池秋恆 (BASc(Design+) 2024)

Congratulations Frankie Chi Chau Hang 池秋恆 (BASc(Design+) 2024) for receiving a CreateSmart Young Design Talent Special Award (Environmental Design)! Frankie studied the Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Design+ programme which emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, beyond traditional design or architecture. This unique programme allowed Frankie to explore material science and data science, cultivating his innovative spirit and design style which blends aesthetics with scientific inquiry.

“Moved by the recent disappearance of iconic street signs in Hong Kong, Frankie’s graduation project, Retractable Signage System, reimagined street signage by integrating it into foldable canopies. This innovative solution adhered to safety regulations while preserving the signs’ unique character, enriching the city’s visual culture. Currently working at a brand strategy company, Frankie successfully secured resources to further develop a new signage project aimed at simplifying production and installation, with hopes of eventually promoting it for commercial use.” Read more about Frankie’s work here.
