The University Hall is featured as the “University College London Faculty of Laws” building in the opening scene of the film, where the main character Raymond Lau (played by Andy Lau) takes his graduation photo.
Today, you can see the tree in front of U-Hall has grown magnificently to provide shade.

In the beginning of the film, the Main Building is featured as Kawashima Yoshiko’s (played by Anita Mui) wedding venue in Lushun, 1920s.
The University Hall was transformed into a villa for the movie.

The scene where the main character Benny Ho San (played by Andy Lau) receives an award at the scholarship and prize giving ceremony was filmed in University Hall.
The film is inspired by the story of Stanley Ho, a Hong Kong-Macau billionaire businessman. The main character’s name “Ho San” is similarly pronounced with Stanley Ho’s Chinese name “Hung-sun” in Cantonese. Stanley Ho joined the University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Science in 1939, and was a resident of Ricci Hall.
