HKU Alumni Association Delegation Explores Shanghai’s Heritage and Innovation

On 27 Feb 2026, a delegation from the HKU Alumni Association (HKUAA) enjoyed a memorable visit to Shanghai hosted by the HKU Shanghai Alumni Network. The curated tour took us on a journey through the city’s rich tapestry — from the historic Bank of East Asia Building and Mayor Chen Yi’s office at the Old City Hall, to the cutting-edge innovations on display at Ant Group and the Central Innovation Zone. The experience beautifully showcased Shanghai’s unique blend of heritage and future vision. The evening culminated in a delightful dinner at the Bund, where the group immersed themselves in old Shanghai’s charm. This visit not only deepened our appreciation for Shanghai’s transformation but also strengthened the enduring bonds within the wider HKU family, paving the way for future collaboration between our alumni communities across both cities.

The HKUAA delegation, along with alumni and friends of the University both locally and overseas, traveled to Shanghai to attend the opening of HKU’s Zhangjiang Base, the Shanghai Headquarters at Bund 22 heritage building, and the Caohejing Base. On 28 February, the delegates attended HKU’s 115th Anniversary Shanghai High Table Dinner—a memorable event to reconnect with old friends, meet new contacts, and celebrate our shared heritage.
