There was laughter before the dinner even began.
As alumni arrived at the Senior Common Room on 22 May, familiar faces were greeted with warm handshakes, bright smiles, and long-overdue hugs. For one evening, graduates of the Civil Engineering Class of 1986 stepped away from their busy lives and returned to the friendships and memories that first began at Haking Wong Building in 1983.
The reunion dinner was filled with lively conversations, nostalgia, and celebration. Some alumni had stayed closely connected over the years, while others were meeting again after a long time — yet once the stories started flowing, it felt as though no time had passed at all.

Before the dinner, some alumni also joined a laboratory visit organised by the Faculty of Engineering and a campus tour arranged by the Development & Alumni Affairs Office, reconnecting with both the University and its latest developments.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and helped make the evening so memorable. It was a wonderful celebration of friendship, shared memories, and the enduring spirit of HKU. The reunion was initiated by Professor S.C. Wong and Ir Professor C.F. Lam, with support from the Development & Alumni Affairs Office and the Faculty of Engineering.
