Earlier this month, sixty alumni gathered in Boston for a lively and memorable dinner with President Professor Xiang Zhang, Professor Yang Wang, Vice-President (Institutional Advancement), Mr W. K. Tsang, Director of the President’s Office, and Ms Monica Wong, Director of Alumni Affairs. This was Professor Wang’s first alumni event abroad since stepping into his role as Vice-President (Institutional Advancement) in August. He thoroughly enjoyed chatting with alumni and was inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of the Boston alumni community. It was a wonderful reminder of HKU’s strong global connections and the lasting bonds that unite its alumni worldwide.

The trio of Co-Convenors of the Hong Kong University Alumni Association of Boston–New England (HKUAANE)- Amiee Huang 黃緋青 (BSc, PhD), Jasmine Cheung 張素兒 (BSc), and Iyang Huang 黃翊揚(BA(ArchStud)) – graciously extended a warm welcome to Professor Zhang and the delegation. They also took a moment to introduce the former Convenors of the Association, who joined us for this delightful evening. These dynamic young alumni have demonstrated remarkable dedication to strengthening the bonds among HKU graduates in the region.

Adding to the convivial atmosphere were our dedicated mentors in Boston, including the founders of HKUAANE Professor Siu Yum-tong 蕭蔭堂 (BA) and Professor Siu Sau-fong 蕭黃秀芳 (BA); Dr Venus Huang 黃聞馨 (BSc, PhD), Mr. Jerry Wang 王若煜 (BEng(IETM)), and Dr. Albert Wong 黃祐慈 (BSc(Eng)-Civ). Their ongoing support and mentorship genuinely embody the spirit of HKU’s vibrant community.

Alumni made their way from different cities around the region to join this special gathering, showing just how strong their connection to HKU really is. The event brought together a lively mix of young professionals, experienced graduates, and current exchange students—all sharing their love for the university. The evening was packed with exciting updates on HKU’s latest news, fun conversations among old friends and new, and a great chance to welcome some fresh faces into the alumni community.
