HKUAA NSW CHAPTER 1983 – 2023
In 1983, in the days before Internet, WhatsApp and social media, a few recently arrived migrants from Hong Kong felt the need for meaningful social connection and the idea of forming a NSW chapter of the Hong Kong University Alumni Association was born.
Some thirty alumni, made aware of this proposal via generous gratuitous publicity from the Editor of the Sing Tao Daily newspaper, gathered in a Chinatown restaurant, and fully supported its formation. A committee was quickly set up with Dr Edward Chung, MBBS, elected as the Inaugural Chair.
The Association is one of the earliest overseas chapters of its parent HKUAA, and through the devotion and hardwork of subsequent committees and the unwavering support of members, has now reached a significant milestone.
