Proud of Hong Kong Athletes
|
This year, HKU welcomes eight top-notch athletes through the Top Athletes Direct Admission Scheme (TADAS). They include Cindy Cheung Sum Yuet, who represented Hong Kong in the Women’s 100m and 200m Backstroke at the Paris Olympics 2024, Chloe Pak Hoi Man (Athletics), Johannsson Magnus Prostur (Athletics), Yeung Chi Ka (Fencing), Fong Hoi Sun (Fencing) and Anson Wong Tsz Wun (Fencing), Kikabhoy Rafeek (Windsurfing) and Jada Nicole He (Wushu).

HKU nurtures diverse global talent
|
The University of Hong Kong is committed to promoting whole-person education. Through its various admission schemes this year, HKU has admitted students with outstanding academic performance and diverse backgrounds:
|
• 48 local non-Chinese-speaking students, the highest number among the eight funded universities;
|
• 117 academically outstanding and multi-talented students through the School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme (SNDAS);
|
• 15 outstanding athletes through the Sports Scholarship Scheme;
|
• 4 “top scorers” who achieved 5** in 6 subjects in the HKDSE, and many other high-achieving students with 5** in 4 or more subjects;
|
• 15 President’s Scholars with an average score of 49 in their best six subjects,
|
|
|
HKU reaches record high in 2024 Shanghai Academic Rankings of World Universities
|
The University of Hong Kong has achieved its highest-ever position in the 2024 Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), rising 19 places from the previous year to rank 69th globally. HKU retains its position as the 10th highest-ranking university in Asia and continues to be the premier institution locally, maintaining its status as the only university in Hong Kong to ever rank in the top 100 of the ARWU.
