HKU's Dentistry and Education rank among Top 10 worldwide in 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject

The University of Hong Kong has achieved outstanding results in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject, with its Dentistry and Education subjects ranking 3rd and 7th globally, respectively.

Seven HKU subjects are ranked among the top 20 globally and 10 subjects are ranked in the top 3 in Asia. Out of the 49 ranked subjects, 30 are placed among the top 50 globally.

Two newly ranked HKU subjects, History of Art and Marketing are within 21-40 and 21-50 globally, respectively.

HKU establishes Five Jockey Club STEM Labs to foster innovative and sustainable research

HKU receives a generous support of HKD48.51 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to establish five Jockey Club (JC) STEM Labs. The establishment of the JC STEM Labs aligns with the University's strategic plan to nurture future leaders in STEM fields and promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

The five newly inaugurated JC STEM Labs are:

 •  JC STEM Lab of Advanced 3D Integrated Circuit Technology

 •  JC STEM Lab of Molecular Imaging

 •  JC STEM Lab of Multimedia and Machine Learning

 •  JC STEM Lab of Quantitative Remote Sensing

 •  JC STEM Lab of Robotics for Soft Materials

Global Innovation Centre (GIC) – New Hub for Groundbreaking Upstream Research

The University of Hong Kong has embarked on the development of the Global Innovation Centre (GIC), an interdisciplinary deep-tech research facility that aims to tackle global challenges and ignite transformative inventions through original discovery.

This interdisciplinary deep-tech research facility embodies the University's collective commitment to pushing the boundaries of human knowledge and finding solutions to grand challenges such as climate change and prevention of future pandemics. It will be the knowledge fountainhead dedicated to original discovery and will be Hong Kong's first transdisciplinary deep technology research facility that solely focuses on upstream research.
