HKU listed among world's top 50 universities with the most highly cited researchers
31 HKU academics are named by Clarivate in its list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2021” as the most influential in the world. Their works have been highly cited by fellow academics, making a significant impact on research in their respective fields of study. The number of world’s top researchers at HKU has more than doubled that of 2020’s, and remains to be the highest among universities in Hong Kong.
Highly Cited Researchers are selected for their exceptional research performance, determined by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science.

Sotheby’s Hong Kong 2021 Autumn Sales achieved HK$3.08 billion in sales, surpassing the full year total for 2020. The lots included Picasso’s “Femme Accroupie”, which sold for an Asian record HK$191.7 million, and acclaimed film director Wong Kar Wai’s first ever NFT creation, “In The Mood For Love - Day One”, which soared to HK$4.3 million and established a new benchmark for any Asian film NFT.
