The Expansion of The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS)
“This new extension will facilitate even closer collaboration with international research organisations, bringing a global perspective on local loss of biodiversity, including the effects of climate change, as well as offering more opportunities for outreach and education,” said Mr Merlin Swire, Chairman of Swire Pacific Limited.

Restoring Hong Kong’s Whale Campaign
Hong Kong’s beloved baby Fin whale has been sitting on the shore beside SWIMS at Cape D’Aguilar Marine Reserve for more than three decades. Unfortunately, baby whale’s bones were severely damaged by super typhoon Mangkhut in 2018, and its condition has since deteriorated. Support the recreation of whale skeleton, SWIMS research and educational activities to conserve Hong Kong’s marine environment.
