Music graduands Harris Leung and Timothy Wong will present a Four-hands Piano Concert “For Such a Time as This 此時 ‧ 此刻”, dedicated to the HKU Class of 2020 fellows in these unconventional times. Harris and Timothy are winners at various competitions for both piano duet and solo, including First Prize in piano four-hands class in the 19th Osaka International Music Competition.

Understanding Fatality Rate of COVID-19 - How Is It Calculated?
How is fatality rate calculated? Are there different ways of calculation that may result in discrepancies? A fatality rate of 1.4% seems very low. Does that mean we may resume our regular daily routines? Is age a factor that affects likelihood of infection?
Understanding “Effective Reproduction Number”
Looking at the daily reported cases alone may not paint the most accurate picture when assessing the severity of an outbreak. Epidemiologists focus on two key statistics when discussing transmission trends and growth rates - basic reproduction number (R0), and effective reproduction number at time (Rt).

International politics has shifted from unipolarity to bipolarity. This is accompanied by rising China-US strategic rivalry fuelled by incompatible visions of international governance. Meanwhile, social discontent is widespread around the world, which stems from unequal distribution of globalization’s costs and benefits. These two trends are reducing the prospects for global security and prosperity, leaving countries to fend for themselves in an increasingly polarized state-centric order.
