Becoming Pokfield Campus: On Track with Transformation

Becoming Pokfield Campus: On Track with Transformation

We are pleased to bring you an update on the transformation taking place at Pokfield Road and Pokfulam Road – the future Live-Work-Play campus hub for the HKU community.

We are on course to see the Pokfield Campus realised in phases from 2025.  It will host a contemporary academic-residential-culture and sports complex at the junction of Pokfield Road and Pokfulam Road, featuring the new home of the Business School, a brand-new sports complex, a university guest house and residential complex, and state-of-the-art academic facilities.

The Pokfield Campus is a key component of the University’s overall innovation and tech-focused approach to development – built for the 21st century and designed to synergise with Hong Kong’s future economy and vibrant society.

Building Back Better: The New Sports Complex at Pokfield Campus

The Flora Ho Sports Centre (FHSC) carries many fond memories for our HKU family.  The building and the facilities, however, are now past their prime.  The sports complex on the new campus will provide world-class sports amenities – including an upgraded indoor sports hall and an indoor heated swimming pool – to the HKU community.

It means, nevertheless, there will be a temporary shortfall in the sports facilities available when the FHSC closes in January 2023 for demolition.  The University aims to deliver the upgraded facilities with the most benefit to our students and staff while minimising the inconvenience as much as possible.  A centrally-coordinated team with colleagues from different administrative units has been working very hard to ensure the provision of sports facilities both on- and off-campus during the transition period.  More details will be announced in due course, and we are grateful for your patience.  Meanwhile, if you wish to know more about the arrangements related to sports facilities, please contact the Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE) at csehku@hku.hk.  For enquiries related to the Pokfield Campus, please contact pcomplex@hku.hk.

Realising the vision of creating a state-of-the-art hub for HKU will be an ongoing process.  With confidence we count on all members of the HKU community for your support to build a better campus for the University which will be a landmark that all of us can be proud of.
