Some 420 guests enjoyed a wonderful evening at the 43rd HKUEAA Annual Dinner and Dance (ADD), themed “The Circus”, on 19 January 2019 at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong.
It was our honor to have Ir Dr Hon LO Wai Kwok, SBS, MH, JP (Member of the Legislative Council of HKSAR), to be our Guest of Honor at this grand occasion. We were also privileged to have the company of Mrs Selina Chow, Ir Liu Chun San, JP (the Under Secretary for Development), Professor Christopher Chao (the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, HKU) and other alumni, friends and students joining the event.
The speeches given by Ir Luk Wai Hung, JP (the President of HKUEAA), Ir Choi Wai Man, Raymond (The Chairman of Event Organising Committee), Dr Hon Lo Wai Kwok and Professor Christopher Chao marked the fabulous opening of the ADD. These were followed by Ir C.K. Mak’s sharing of the achievements and contribution by our Honorary Life President, the late Dr Chow Ming-kuen Joseph. To commemorate this, the HKUEAA Dr Chow Ming-kuen Joseph Memorial Learning Fund was established with contributions for around $3 million received.
An interactive magic show by Avon Lee and singing performance by Ms. Sara Lee brought the atmosphere of the night to a climax. As for previous years, dancing by guests made this night a memorable occasion for everyone.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the old and new friends and guests for their enthusiastic participation, to sponsors for their generous donations, and to the volunteers for their dedicated contributions to make the event possible. We look forward to welcoming you in the ADD in 2020!
H.K.U. Engineering Alumni Association (HKUEAA) was founded in 1975 to unite engineering graduates and organize activities beneficial to the engineering undergraduates. It is my honor to be the President this year. Similar to previous years, HKUEAA will continue to bring together HKU engineering alumni and students of all years and disciplines by organizing different events and programmes with an aim to provide a platform to share members' professional knowledge and experience, and to keep members abreast of the latest trends and developments in engineering and related fields. HKUEAA will also continue to contribute to the engineering professions as well as the Engineering Faculty by providing various forms of supports.
I would like to express my gratitude to the past presidents and committees for their contributions and solicit the support of the committee this year so that with all our effort we could make HKUEAA another successful year. Finally I would like to share a few words to our members「工程專業, 建設國家, 推動創科, 服務香港」
