Honouring the First Benefactor of HKU: Sir H N Mody "Life is incomplete when man lives for his own self. Life is best lived when it is lived for others." – Sir Hormusjee N Mody Every Oct 12, HKU marks the birthday of Sir Hormusjee N Mody, whose visionary support and donation more than a century ago laid the groundwork for establishing the University. Zoroastrian Priest (Ervad) Homyar G. Nasirabadwala recited a prayer and laid a garland of flowers on Mody's bust in the Main Building, citing Zoroastrianism teachings of HUMATA, HUKTA, HUVARASHTA, "good thoughts, good words, good deeds." Renowned historian Professor Wang Gungwu to speak on China Nov 12 & Nov 14 Professor Wang Gungwu 王賡武教授 has been invited to speak as the HKU Sin Wai-Kin Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Humanities: Nov 12: Public Lecture, "China's South: Changing Perspectives", 5:00pm, in English.
