HKU Dentistry launches ''Jockey Club Children Oral Health Project''

Tooth decay, or early childhood caries (ECC), is one of the most prevalent diseases in preschool children in Hong Kong. It was reported that approximately half a population of 5-year-old children are suffering from ECC, with more than 90% left untreated.

Supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the HKU Faculty of Dentistry provides free dental check-up, consultation and treatment to over 180,000 children in local kindergartens as well as oral health education to parents and training to teachers through this 3-year project.
